The uniform list

One crest, every item on the list

A school crest rarely starts life as embroidery. It is usually drawn for a sign or a newsletter, with thin lines, small lettering and a motto, and then it has to work in thread on a polo chest, a knitted jumper, a blazer pocket and the front of a sun-safe hat.

Every garment behaves differently, so each one gets its own file. Knits need underlay so the crest sits on top of the stitches, blazer cloth is firm enough to carry finer detail, and hats need a file sized for the front of a broad-brim or bucket hat. All versions are built from the same reference, so the colours and proportions match across the whole uniform.

Sew-on badges are covered on patch and badge digitising, and school sport and club teams on sports club digitising.

Crests that stay readable through the school year

Small crests fail in predictable places: the motto fills in, fine outlines disappear and tiny symbols turn into blobs. We check every element at the size you give us, keep the bold shapes, open up the lettering and simplify only what cannot read, with each change shown in the preview before you approve.

School uniforms are washed constantly, so the build matters as much as the artwork. Tie-offs are locked, density is set for each fabric and underlay keeps the stitches from sinking into knits, which helps the crest stay flat and tidy wash after wash.

Yes. Each garment gets its own build because knits, piqué and blazer cloth behave differently, but every version comes from the same reference so the crest matches across the uniform.
Yes. Hats get a small, separate file sized for the front, so the crest still reads on a sun-safe hat.
Small text is the hardest part of any crest. We adjust spacing and stroke width, and if it still will not read at your size we show you options, such as a larger crest or a shorter line, before building.
