A JPG is re-digitized, not converted

Most logos arrive as a website JPG, a PNG from a designer or a photo of a business card. That is fine. We don't run the image through a converter; a digitizer redraws the logo as stitch objects, choosing stitch type, direction and underlay for each part.

That is why a blurry file still works: we build from the shapes we can see and ask you about any wording we can't read. What we'll flag in your logo

  • Text too small to stitch: we suggest a larger size, a bolder weight or dropping the line
  • Gradients and shadows: thread comes in solid colors, so blends become stepped colors (or a Coloreel file if your decorator runs one)
  • Taglines under the logo: often unreadable at chest size, so we'll offer a version without
  • Hairline outlines: thickened or removed so they don't break up
  • Unreadable wording in a blurry image: we ask you to confirm the text

FAQs

Logo digitizing questions

Yes. We redraw the logo in stitches rather than converting pixels, so a screenshot or phone photo works. If small text is unreadable, we'll ask you to confirm the wording.
Only close to the size it was built for. A big change in size needs different density and detail, so we build a version for each size and placement you use.
Yes. Caps need center-out sequencing and a lower design height, so the same logo is built as a separate cap file. See cap digitizing.
Digitizing makes a stitch file for an embroidery machine. Vector conversion makes scalable artwork for print, vinyl and signs. If a logo will be embroidered and printed, you need both; see vector conversion.
Standard embroidery thread is one solid color, so a gradient becomes stepped color bands or is simplified. If your decorator runs a Coloreel unit, a Coloreel file can stitch a true gradient.
Usually it was auto-converted, or built for a different size or fabric. We rebuild it for your placement; if you'd like the existing file checked first, see fixing an embroidery file.
