Clinical & care uniforms

Readable names on hard-washed tunics

Care and clinical uniforms put small text (a first name and job role under the organisation's logo) onto lightweight polyester-cotton that puckers if the stitching is too heavy.

We open up the lettering so names read at badge size and keep the logo as light as coverage allows. NHS England's uniforms and workwear guidance for NHS employers refers to a 10-minute wash at 60°C, so tie-offs are locked to hold through that repeated washing without stiffening the tunic.

For name and role sizing in more depth, see small text digitising; for chest logo widths, left chest sizing.

Rippling around a tunic logo usually means density set for a polo. Tunics need a lighter build of the same logo.

Names & roles

Staff names and job roles

Most care providers want the organisation logo with a first name and role on each tunic. Tell us how names are added in production and send the list or a sample layout, and we'll advise on letter size, one- or two-line layouts and spacing so every name reads.

If a role line is too small to read at your chosen size, we'll flag it and suggest a larger size or a shorter layout before building.

NHS identity

Working with NHS logos

The NHS identity is managed by NHS England and used by NHS organisations under its guidelines. We digitise artwork supplied by your trust or its authorised uniform supplier, and build it as supplied.

Care homes, GP surgeries, dental practices and domiciliary care agencies with their own logos can send artwork directly.

FAQs

Healthcare digitising questions

NHS England's uniform guidance references a 10-minute wash at 60°C. We set tie-offs and density for repeated washing at that temperature without stiffening lightweight tunics.
The NHS identity is managed by NHS England for use by NHS organisations under its guidelines. We digitise artwork supplied by your trust or its authorised supplier.
Tunic fabric is light, so density that suits a polo pulls it out of shape. Tunics need a lighter build of the same logo with stable underlay.

Yes. Care providers and their uniform suppliers send us logos for tunics, polos and fleeces, and we build each garment version.
Usually. Fleece pile swallows small text, so the fleece version gets more underlay while the tunic version stays light.
Each design has one flat price set by its complexity, with every machine format, unlimited revisions and a VAT invoice included; see the price table on this page or the UK price list. Rush (2–4 hours) and super rush (1–2 hours) add 50%.
