Best Embroidery Digitising Services in the UK: An Honest 2026 Comparison
There is no single best embroidery digitising service in the UK. The right choice depends on your price model, turnaround and how much checking you want to do. Compare companies on published facts: price per design, standard turnaround, revision policy, first-order offers and whether company and VAT details are shown. We're PlixaLabs, one of the companies below, so every fact is linked and dated.

Per-stitch pricing for small designs
Cheap Digitizing publishes £1 per 1,000 stitches with a £5 minimum. Excel Digitising publishes £3.00 per 1,000 stitches.
A low flat starting price
Megri Digitizing's home page shows a flat rate from £5. Swiftartwork publishes £5–£20 per file. DigitisingMart and PlixaLabs start from £10 per design.
A long-established UK business
DigitisingMart says it has served the UK since 2001 and lists a Coventry address.
Something to try before committing
PlixaLabs gives new registered businesses one Simple or Medium design free. Cheap Digitizing offers a trial order. DigitisingMart says "Not happy with the result? You don't pay."
Company and VAT numbers on the site
PlixaLabs publishes its company number (15975548) and VAT number (GB 506 4612 12). We didn't find both published on the other sites we checked.
Same-day standard turnaround
PlixaLabs publishes 4–8 hours standard (rush 2–4 hours, super rush 1–2 hours, +50%). Megri's home page says 4–12 hours and Cheap Digitizing's service page says 8 hours, though other pages on both sites give longer times. Several others publish 24 hours or next day.

How we compared.
We compared UK-facing embroidery digitising services that appear in search results for this topic, using only what each company publishes about itself. For every fact we link the page it came from.
What we didn't do: we didn't place test orders or sew anyone's files, so this page says nothing about stitch quality. The only reliable test of that is a sew-out on your own machine.
Where a company's own pages give different figures, we show both or leave the fact out. "Not published" means we couldn't find the fact on the pages we checked.
- Pricing model and starting price. Flat per design or per 1,000 stitches, and any minimum.
- Standard turnaround. The normal published time, not only rush.
- Revision policy. As the company words it, including limits.
- First-order offer. Discounts or free designs for new customers.
- Company details. Whether a UK company number and VAT number are published on the site.

Pricing models
Flat price or per 1,000 stitches: which costs less?
Neither model is always cheaper. It depends on your stitch counts. Here is plain arithmetic using two published rates from the table: Excel Digitising's £3.00 per 1,000 stitches and PlixaLabs' flat prices. Actual stitch counts vary by design and size, and some per-stitch services set a minimum.

At a lower rate the sums change: at Cheap Digitizing's published £1 per 1,000 stitches (£5 minimum), the same three designs would cost £5, £8 and £25. The takeaway: per-stitch pricing can suit small, light designs; flat pricing is more predictable for large or dense ones. Work it out on the designs you actually run. - Pricing model. Is it per design or per 1,000 stitches, and what's the minimum?
- Standard turnaround. What's the normal time, not just the rush option?
- Revisions. Are they free, and is there a time limit or a limit on the kind of change?
- Formats. Do you get every machine format you need at no extra cost?
- How files are made. Does the company say whether files are hand-digitised or auto-digitised?
- Proof. Can you see real sew-outs, not only stitch simulations?
- The business. Does the site publish a company number, VAT number and address, and will you get a VAT invoice?
- Reviews. Where do the reviews come from, and how many are there?
- File use. Can you use the file on any machine and for repeat orders? See digitising fees and file ownership.
- A test. Will they do a free or trial first design so you can sew it yourself?
Red flags
Worth a second look.
None of these proves a problem, but each is worth a question before you send production work.
- No published price or price range at all, only "upload for a quote".
- "Unlimited revisions" on the home page, but a time limit or charge in the terms.
- No company name, company number or address anywhere on the site.
- Prices in US dollars on a UK site, or no mention of VAT invoices if you need them.
- Only stitch simulations shown, never photos of real sew-outs.
- Different prices or turnaround times on different pages, with no explanation.

Choosing a digitiser: questions.
There isn't one best for everyone. For simple left chest logos, price model and minimums matter most. For caps, 3D puff and jacket backs, look for real sew-outs and free revisions. The fairest test is to send the same artwork to two or three companies and sew each file. Many buyers search for this as the best embroidery digitizing company; the same checks apply.

For small, low-stitch designs it can be. For large, dense designs such as jacket backs, a flat price is usually more predictable. Work it out on your typical stitch counts.
If your business is VAT registered and wants to reclaim the VAT, HMRC guidance (VAT Notice 700) says you need valid evidence, normally a VAT invoice from the supplier. Check a company is VAT registered before you order.
A local embroiderer can digitise and sew in one place, which is convenient for a one-off job. An online service only supplies the stitch file, which suits businesses with their own machines or a regular flow of designs. Ask each for the price of the file on its own.
